Lhota is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located five kilometers north of Stará Boleslav and belongs to the Okres Praha-východ .
geography
Lhota is located on the right bank of the Elbe in the Hlavenský potok. The village lies on the northern edge of the pine forest area "Spalený les". To the east of the village is Lhota Lake. In the west runs the railway from Lysá nad Labem to Mělník , the Dřísy railway station is one and a half kilometers west of the village.
Neighboring towns are Dřísy in the north, Sudovo Hlavno and Kostelní Hlavno in the northeast, Hlavenec in the east, Stará Boleslav in the southeast, Borek in the south, Křenek in the southwest, Rudeč and Kostelec nad Labem in the west and Ovčáry in the northwest.
history
The village on the edge of the Brandejser Forest was founded in 1332 by the Lords of Michalowitz. Lhota was attached to the Skorkov farm and was always part of Brandej's rule until 1848 . During the Thirty Years' War the village fell into desolation and was then repopulated. Lhota has been parish after Stará Boleslav since its existence. The inhabitants lived from agriculture, which was quite productive because of the fertile soil.
After the abolition of patrimonial Lhota formed a municipality in the Karlín district from 1850 and in the Brandýs nad Labem district from 1906. In 1873, after the construction of the Austrian Northwest Railway , the Dřísy station was built in the fields west of the village. This enabled the agricultural products, in particular onions and cucumbers, to be sold in the industrial areas of northern Bohemia. In 1911 the road to Stará Boleslav was built. In the 1920s, a hotel with 40 beds opened in Lhota, which became the cultural center of the village and offered theater events in its hall. Between 1927 and 1939 the village experienced strong growth and 35 single-family houses were built. In 1959 the hotel was converted into a retirement home.

From 1961 Lhota belonged to Okres Mělník and since 2007 to okres Praha-východ . Between 1965 and 1983 gravel sand was extracted east of the village. The quarry pond has been a popular bathing destination since its dismantling and is visited by over 10,000 bathers on hot days. In 1987 the 7th Lhota / Lehota meeting took place in Lhota nad Labem , in which delegations from 88 Czechoslovak villages took part. After the restitution in 1993, the hotel reopened.

Attractions
- Lhota Lake, the 25 ha large and 14 m deep quarry pond was created from a sand pit that was set up in 1965 for the construction of the D 1 motorway and was operated until 1983. After it was flooded, the first public nudist beach in Czechoslovakia was built on Lake Lhota . The lake is a popular bathing destination for nudists from Prague, 20 kilometers away. A parking lot with a capacity of 1,400 cars was created north of the lake.
