Jürgen Bona Meyer

Jürgen Bona Meyer (born October 25, 1829 in Hamburg , † June 22, 1897 in Bonn ) was a German philosopher . Meyer had been a professor at the University of Bonn since 1868 ; In 1886/87 he was the rector of the university. His brother-in-law was the zoologist and ecologist Karl August Möbius (1825–1908).

Life

Meyer studied medicine, science and philosophy. In 1854 he received his doctorate under Friedrich Adolf Trendelenburg with a thesis on Aristotle's thierkunde . During his studies in 1850 he became a member of the Frankonia fraternity in Bonn .

Meyer sought after Jakob Friedrich Fries the criticism of Kant taking into account recent psychological findings to renew and thus is considered an early proponent of the neo-Kantian .
