Jürgen Faust

Jürgen Faust (* 1955) is a German designer , artist and researcher. He was dean at the Macromedia University for Media and Communication in Munich and teaches design and media theory in the digital media production course. He has been President of Macromedia University since 2013.

Life

Faust completed a chemistry degree at the Reutlingen University of Applied Sciences in 1979 and a degree in fine arts at the Free Academy in Nürtingen in 1982 . In 2013 he did a PhD at the Planetary Collegium, University of Plymouth with the title "Towards a comprehensive and universal design theory".

Faust began in 1986 as the co-founder, deputy director and lecturer at the art seminar in Metzingen (which then became Schwäbisch Hall University of Applied Sciences ). In 1997 he became dean of the Institute for Art and Media at the Metzingen University of Applied Sciences. In 1998 he taught as visiting professor at Cleveland State University, USA. In 1999, Faust was appointed to the Institute for Art, Design and Media Design of the Cleveland Institute of Art (USA). At that time he was also appointed dean of the Integrated Media Environment and was responsible for TIME (Technology and Integrated Media). He was responsible for the redesign of the educational content in the areas of print media, drawing, illustration, communication design and biomedical communication. In spring 2005 he also took over responsibility for the visual communication , medical and scientific illustration departments. Subsequently, he published and researched the transfer of design methods and processes to management.

At the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (Mexico) he worked from January to December 2006 as dean and from January to June 2007 as professor of design and theory. Here, too, his focus was on the transfer of design processes to other disciplines. Since May 2007 he has been Chief Academic Officer at the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) in Milan (Italy) and works as a professor for media and communication design at the Munich University of Applied Sciences .

Faust has been a professor at the Macromedia University in Munich since 2009, where he was Vice President for Academic Affairs and Research between 2010 and 2013. He has been President of Macromedia University since 2013.

Act

Faust has taught at design schools since 1990 and continues to expand bachelor and master programs. Since the end of the 1990s, he has been designing programs for digital media production, drafting curricula in design and leading the development process and the implementation of his ideas.
