The Schwäbisch Hall University of Applied Sciences ( FHSH ) was a private, state-recognized university of applied sciences in Schwäbisch Hall, founded in 2000 . The Steinbeis University in Berlin has been the sponsor since 2009 . The course was stopped in the 2013 summer semester.
history
The art seminar Freie Hochschule Metzingen eV was founded in 1984 as a forerunner of the Schwäbisch Hall University of Applied Sciences with a degree in cultural design. The art and media course followed in 1998. In March 2000, the art seminar received state recognition as a university of applied sciences. In the winter semester 2000/01, the University of Applied Sciences moved from Metzingen to Schwäbisch Hall at the invitation of the city and changed its name. Until the founding of the gGmbH, it was run as an independent sub-foundation of the Schwäbisch Hall Hospital Foundation . In the search for an investment partner, the city changed the company form to a gGmbH.
On October 30, 2009 the purchase of the Schwäbisch Hall University by the Steinbeis University in Berlin was completed. The Schwäbisch Hall University of Applied Sciences thus received a new sponsor, the Steinbeis University of Applied Sciences Berlin.
The University of Applied Sciences closed its studies in the 2013 summer semester. New students have not been admitted since 2010. The cultural design course expired in the 2011 winter semester. After a negative assessment by the Science Council, the university was considered a restructuring case.
courses
The training concept stipulated that the students acquire artistic and media design skills with cultural studies and practical professional knowledge. The partner concept applied to the two bachelor's programs in cultural design ( spelling : KulturGestaltung ) and media design (media design ) : During the practical semester, the students were involved in the tasks of a partner company / institution and implemented media and cultural projects there. The university taught in small groups, with a maximum of 25 students learning and working in one semester.
Cultural design
The bachelor's degree in cultural design, which was discontinued in 2011, combined knowledge in the field of art and cultural mediation with creative and artistic skills. Comprehensive artistic design principles, artistic projects and project work in cultural education and cultural management formed the basis of the course. The course concluded after seven semesters (one practical semester) with a Bachelor of Arts.
Media design
The bachelor's degree in media design taught design skills in the areas of internet, multimedia, computer graphics, typography, video, animation and audio. The design basics were supplemented by knowledge of media theory and conception, art and cultural history and project management. After seven semesters, including an internship and a semester abroad, the course led to the Bachelor of Arts.
The media design students had to spend a semester abroad at a partner university during their studies. The university had 19 partnerships with universities a. a. in the USA, Australia, New Zealand and Poland. Up to 50 percent of the courses were therefore offered in English.
