Guido Kühn

Guido Kühn (born September 22, 1966 in Sindelfingen ) is a German professor of media design as well as communication designer and media artist .

Life

Kühn began to draw his first picture stories and comics at the age of 13. a. at the Caricatura in Kassel. After completing school in Germany, France and England, she briefly studied business administration, specializing in data processing, at VWA Stuttgart. He broke off this and completed a degree in visual communication at the University of Kassel with a focus on illustration, film and photography with the graphic designer Gunter Rambow , the media artist Rolf Lobeck and the filmmaker Manfred Vosz , which he graduated with honors. At the same time he studied fine art with a focus on free graphics and artistic installations with Harry Kramer , Martin Kippenberger and Norbert Radermacher .

During his studies, Kühn began to exhibit graphics and artistic (media) works at home and abroad, worked in a wide variety of positions on many film projects and set up in the field of AV media design. In this context he worked in the field of broadcast and event graphics a. a. for public broadcasters like Hessischer Rundfunk , ARD , ZDF and arte . In 1996 he became a lecturer in 3D animation at the Kassel Art College , and from 1999 to 2001 he was a research assistant at the Georg-August University in Göttingen with the film scholar Helmut Korte at the Center for Interdisciplinary Media Studies ZiM.

From 2001 he was a professor, from 2004 vice dean of the media design department for AV communication design at the Schwäbisch Hall University of Applied Sciences until it closed in 2013. There he devoted himself to many projects in the field of museum design, regionality and city marketing, as well as AV communication design. Teaching projects are repeatedly awarded, including a. In 2007 first place for the cinema spot "Voll Fit" and in 2011 second place for the prevention award of the state of Baden-Württemberg for "Besser Ankommen", a bachelor thesis awarded and supervised by Linda Neumitz. From 2008 to 2015 he was a lecturer in communication design at Heilbronn University , where he also works on the expert committee for university development at the rectorate. Since November 15, 2015, Kühn has been appointed to the professorship for Cross Media Design at the SRH Hochschule Heidelberg .

Guido Kühn publishes his illustrations, comics, cartoons and creative works on a small scale, mostly self-published or online. His creative and design research projects aim at (exemplary) implementation including documentation in the form of gray literature .

In 2003 Kühn founded the international film festival Formula Mundi , which he has directed ever since. Kühn has long been committed to the further development of the design u. a. as a member of the German Society for Design Theory and Research eV DGTF . In 2007, together with Philip Zerweck, he founded the design didactics group of the DGTF and in 2011 the platform designdidaktik.de, which is devoted to developing design didactics . In addition to his teaching activities, he is also a volunteer, for example as a founding member of the Schwäbisch Hall Citizens' Forum. Guido Kühn is known in the scene of the owner of classic Land Rover , u. a. as a moderator at blacklandy and as the operator of a popular weblog on this topic.
