Jürgen Gutowski (born December 23, 1955 in Hamburg ) is a German physicist .

Life

After graduating from high school in Berlin in 1974 , Gutowski began studying physics at the TU Berlin . In 1985 he was promoted to Dr. rer. nat. PhD. His dissertation with the title Spectroscopy of highly excited CdS crystals. Excitation mechanisms and electronic structure of complexes of free and bound excitons extended the subject to magneto-optics and electronic Raman scattering at states of excitonic complexes, which now also include the bie excitons under high excitation powers. From 1985 to 1991 he was an assistant at the TU Berlin. In 1987 he won the Karl Scheel Prize of the Physical Society in Berlin. In 1988 he completed his habilitation in experimental physics with a thesis on nonlinear optics . Since 1991 he has been professor for experimental physics at the University of Bremen at the Institute for Solid State Physics.
