Jürgen Jentsch

Jürgen Jentsch (born September 6, 1939 in Stettin ) is a German politician ( SPD ). He was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia . From May 1985 to May 2005, Jentsch represented the constituency of Gütersloh / Herzebrock-Clarholz in the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia as a directly elected member of the state parliament .

Life

Jentsch began an apprenticeship as a locksmith in 1955 after primary school in Busdorf and relocation to Gütersloh . After completing his apprenticeship, he worked for several jobs until 1980. In the meantime he attended a correspondence course in journalism in 1961 and a correspondence course in business administration in 1968. In 1970 he married his wife Elisabeth nee Mußmann. Five years later his son Sören was born. From 1980 to 1985 he was trade union secretary at IG Metall , which he joined in 1972 in Paderborn .

politics

Jentsch joined the SPD in 1973. Until 1992 he was the district chairman of the Working Group for Employee Issues (AfA) and was also a member of several charities, such as the Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO). In 1975 he became a member of the City Council of Gütersloh, which he remained until 2004. During this time he was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia from May 30, 1985 to June 2, 2005. During this time he also became chairman of the Working Group on Children and Youth Protection (AJS) State Office in North Rhine-Westphalia , which he held since 1989. During his time as a member of parliament, he was deputy chairman of the parliamentary interior committee from 1995 to 2000 and domestic policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group from 1997 to 2005 and thus also a member of the extended parliamentary committee. From 1995 to 2005 he was a member of the Presidium of the State Parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia. In 1999 he was elected Deputy Mayor of Gütersloh, which he remained until 2004. Since April 2010, Jentsch has been Deputy Chairman of the State Seniors' Representation.
