Jürgen Oechsler

Jürgen Oechsler (born January 9, 1963 in Saarlouis ) is a German lawyer and professor.

He first studied law and oriental studies in Saarbrücken . During his training he stayed in Cairo , Tunisia and Houston Texas , among others . He received his doctorate in 1991 with the title "Competition, Reciprocity and External Business in the Credit Card Business" at the University of Saarland with the highest distinction. On February 6, 1996, he completed his habilitation with the thesis “Justice in the modern exchange contract”. He was assistant to Michael Martinek's chair . He has given lectures in English and French, among others at the University of Warwick and the Robert Schumann University in Strasbourg .

On June 19, 1998, he was appointed university professor for life at the University of Potsdam . Finally, in January 2003, after being appointed university professor at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz . There he holds a chair for civil law , commercial law , German and European business law .
