The Alaseja Plateau ( Russian Алазейское плоскогорье , Alaseiskoje ploskogorje) is a plateau up to 954 m high in the northeast of the Russian Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and Siberia .
Geographical location
The Alaseja Plateau extends north of the Arctic Circle over about 300 km between the Jana-Indigirka lowlands with the Indigirka and Badjaricha rivers in the west , the Oschogina in the south, and the Kolyma lowlands with the Kolyma and the rivers in the northeast for the plateau named Alaseja . About the gently undulating plateau with an average of 350 m individual level rise mesa-like mountain ranges and ridges with altitudes between 400 and a maximum of 954 m .
geology
The base of the Alaseja plateau is formed by Proterozoic gneisses , which are covered by Devonian volcanic sedimentary deposits and Jurassic tuffs , which in turn are broken through by granites .
flora
Light, boggy larch , dwarf birch ( Betula exilis ) and lichen forests on permafrost soils with boreal coniferous forest (taiga) extend up to a height of 450 m . Riparian forests with poplars and willows ( Chosenia arbutifolia ) are widespread in the river valleys . Light curved wood from Siberian stone pine ( Pinus sibirica ) reaches a height of 600 m , while the higher altitudes are occupied by mountain tundra .
