Jürgen Peter (political scientist)

Jürgen Peter (born August 5, 1956 ) is a German social and political scientist . He is a qualified professor at the Institute for Socialization Research and Social Psychology at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main .

Act

In 1994/95, Peter became a PhD with Herfried Münkler and Hans-Gerd Jaschke in Frankfurt am Main. phil. PhD in political science. He obtained a second doctorate at the Medical Faculty of the University of Heidelberg under Wolfgang U. Eckart , Hans-Jochen Diesfeld and Helmut Siefert . In 2003/2004 he completed his habilitation with Karola Brede, Peter Weingart and Wolfgang U. Eckart at the University of Frankfurt am Main and in 2005 received the Venia legendi for sociology and historical social psychology.

In his study The Historikerstreit and the Search for a National Identity of the Eighties, he postulated that the German “ preventive war thesis should rather be classified as part of the extensive“ search for a national identity ”on the conservative side”. Peter published a reception story on the Nuremberg Medical Trial based on extensive sources (monograph from 1994, 1998 and 2013) and other publications. On racial hygiene before 1933/1934, his book Der Einbruch der Rassenhygiene in die Medizin was published in 2004 .
