Jürgen Plate

Jürgen Plate († September 12, 2018 ) was Professor of Computer Science at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the University of Applied Sciences in Munich .

Life

Plate did research in the areas of operating systems and networks . In addition to his academic work, he became known as the author of numerous specialist articles, including in mc , Funkschau , ELO and Elrad , and books, especially on computer architecture and remote data transmission . From 1985 to 2001 he was co-author and co-presenter of the series ComputerTreff , which was broadcast by Bayerischer Rundfunk . In addition, Plate has become known to part of the German public through his socio-political commitment, as he has been a member of the Munich “Förderverein Informationstechnik und Gesellschaft” (FITUG) since 1996, campaigning for the integration of the new media. One of the main focuses of his work was to educate people about the risks and dangers posed by the Internet, especially for civil rights.
