Christian Callejas , full name Christian Fabián Callejas Rodríguez , (born May 17, 1978 in Montevideo ) is a former Uruguayan football player on the position of midfielder .
Career
society
Callejas began his professional career at Danubio , a top division club from his hometown of Montevideo . Here he was in the squad from Apertura 1995. Up to the Apertura 2002, a total of at least 146 appearances and seven goals from Callejas were recorded for the Montevideans. During this time, his club won the Torneo Apertura in 2001 and the Torneo Clausura the following year. In 2002 he played with Danubio in the Copa Sudamericana . Since the Apertura 2003 he has been in the ranks of Fénix . In 2005 he was under contract with Paysandú FC , who played briefly in the Uruguayan Primera División , and played 31 times in the first division (seven goals). The FC Lugano in Switzerland the first foreign club, the Callejas had himself joined in the 2005/06 season. After a few months and twelve games he already moved back to South America, where he is said to have been in the Racing squad in 2006 . The next season Callejas completed again abroad, this time at Club Olimpia from Paraguay, where he completed 14 games in Torneo Apertura 2007 (no goal). Subsequently, a station at the Maltese club Sliema Wanderers will be performed for him in the 2007/08 season . Since the 2008/09 season he played in the professional team of Hibernians Paola from Malta. With this team he won the championship in the Maltese Premier League in the first year . In that season and the following, he played 47 times for the Maltese and scored five goals. He then moved to Durazno FC , where he was under contract in the 2010/11 season and played 17 times (two goals) in the second-highest Uruguayan division. Also in the following two seasons he is said to have been active there in the third division.
National team
Callejas took part with the Uruguayan U-20 selection at the U-20 South American Championship in 1997 and finished fourth with the team. During the tournament he was used by coach Víctor Púa seven times (one goal). He also took part in the U-20 World Cup that year in Malaysia and was runner-up there. In the Uruguayan U-23 selection, he was used in the "Torneo Preolímpico" in Brazil in 2000 in four international matches (no goal). From his debut on December 15, 1997 against the Czech Republic in the 1997 FIFA Confederations Cup to his last appearance on July 25, 2001, he played for the Uruguayan senior team . He made a total of 14 full international matches (one goal). His greatest success with this team was reaching 2nd place at the 1999 Copa America . He was also a member of the 2001 Copa America squad.
