Jürgen Sudhoff

Jürgen Sudhoff (born August 20, 1935 in Bochum ) is a German lawyer , diplomat and administrative officer .

After graduating from high school, Sudhoff began studying law in Bonn, which he completed with two state exams. There he was also active in the Corps Rhenania Bonn . Sudhoff received his doctorate in 1961 with the thesis The representation of the community in bodies of economic enterprises to the Dr. jur. , then entered the legal civil service and worked as a court assessor at the Essen regional court . In 1964 he completed a one-year postgraduate course at Harvard University with a Master of Laws degree .

Sudhoff switched to the Foreign Service of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1965 and held various positions in the Netherlands , Great Britain , Israel and Mexico . From 1968 to 1971 he was Second Secretary at the German Embassy in London and played a key role in founding the German School in Petersham. From 1977 to 1981 he was the spokesman for the Federal Foreign Office , from 1982 to 1985 he was deputy spokesman for the federal government and deputy head of the press and information office of the federal government .

Sudhoff was German Ambassador to Mexico in 1981/82 and State Secretary of the Foreign Office from 1985 to 1991. From 1991 to 1995 he served as the German ambassador to France . In 1999 he started working as a lawyer.
