Jürgen Ulzen

Jürgen Ulzen (born March 30, 1937 in Rostock ; † April 14, 2010 in Berlin ) was a Berlin politician ( CDU ) and collector.

Career

Ulzen studied business administration and education at the Free University of Berlin . After graduation, he entered the school service in 1962 at the banking and insurance college ( OSZ Banken und Versicherungen ) and later became director of studies.

In 1967 he became a member of the CDU and after the 1971 elections moved into the Berlin House of Representatives , to which he belonged for three electoral terms until 1981. During this time he was deputy chairman and secretary of the school system, member of the sports and constitutional committee and school policy spokesman for the CDU. From 1981 to 1989 he worked as a district councilor in the districts of Tiergarten and Wilmersdorf .

After his tenure, he worked in the field of management consultancy at former East German companies and acted as the headmaster of the private educational institution didactica.

Jürgen Ulzen's grave is located in the south-west cemetery in Stahnsdorf .

Ulzen Collection

Together with his wife Evelyn, Ulzen put together a highly specialized collection of objects made from glass beads and historical grave decorations. The collection comprises around 13,000 pieces, including Gablonz Christmas tree decorations, embroidered, woven and knitted bags and pouches, pictures and tabletops made of beads, as well as objects of religious folk art such as crosses, wreaths and bouquets of flowers that served as grave decorations, figures of the Virgin Mary or Sacred Heart - Representations under glass cover, reliefs made of plaster of paris, bisque porcelain , sheet metal or embossed celluloid as well as devotional objects that were offered in Catholic pilgrimage sites in the 19th century in particular . There are also around 5,000 old and new types of pearls.
