JOEL is a Austrian rock - band , which in 2003 handles / Klagenfurt was founded. The group is assigned to the genres rock , alternative rock , punk and pop . The name is formed from the first letters of the band members.
history
JOEL consists of the siblings Matthias and Lisa Ortner and their cousins Jonas and Elias Hribernik. Members began playing various musical instruments in childhood. In 2003 the band JOEL was founded. In 2007 they received the Austrian Newcomer Award and in 2010 they took second place at the Emergenza Band Contest in Budapest .
In 2008 the band's first self-titled EP was released. In 2011 the single Give Me a Sign was followed by the debut album of the same name . In 2012 JOEL reached first place in the Austrian iTunes rock charts with the single We Fly . With Lovedrunk , they achieved a placement in the Ö3 Austria Top 40 for the first time in early 2013 . Until the beginning of 2014 the band played over 300 concerts across Europe. In the meantime, Matthias Ortner founded the solo project Matakustix in 2012 .
