J. Burrwood Daly (1935)

John Burrwood Daly (born February 13, 1872 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania , †  March 12, 1939 there ) was an American politician . Between 1935 and 1939 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

J. Burrwood Daly attended the public schools of his home country and then until 1890 La Salle College , also in Philadelphia. He then studied until 1896 at the University of Pennsylvania there . After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1896, he began to work in this profession in Philadelphia. From 1914 to 1922 he was assistant prosecutor in Philadelphia. He was then a faculty member at La Salle College from 1923 to 1930 . At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party .

In the 1934 congressional election , Daly was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the fourth constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded Republican George W. Edmonds on January 3, 1935 . After two re-elections, he could remain in Congress until his death on March 12, 1939 . During that time, many of the Roosevelt administration's New Deal laws were passed there.
