J. Roland Kinzer (1936)

John Roland Kinzer (born March 28, 1874 in Lancaster County , Pennsylvania , †  July 25, 1955 in Lancaster , Pennsylvania) was an American politician . Between 1930 and 1947 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Roland Kinzer attended public schools in his home country and then two colleges in Lancaster. After a subsequent law degree and his admission as a lawyer in 1900, he began to work in Lancaster in this profession. Between 1912 and 1923 he was a district attorney there. Politically, he joined the Republican Party . In June 1928 he took part as a delegate at the Republican National Convention in Kansas City , where Herbert Hoover was nominated as a presidential candidate.

After the death of MP William Walton Griest , Kinzer was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC when he was due for the by-election for the tenth seat of Pennsylvania , where he took up his new mandate on January 28, 1930. After eight re-elections, he could remain in Congress until January 3, 1947 . Since 1945 he represented the ninth electoral district of his state there. During his time in Congress, the New Deal laws of the Roosevelt government were passed there from 1933 . In 1935, the provisions of the 20th Amendment to the Constitution were applied for the first time , according to which the legislative period of the Congress ends or begins on January 3rd. Since 1941, the work of the Congress was also shaped by the events of World War II .

In 1946, Roland Kinzer decided not to run again. After his time in the US House of Representatives, he practiced as a lawyer again. He died on July 25, 1955 in Lancaster, where he was also buried.
