Jaana Ehmcke

Jaana Ehmcke (born May 18, 1987 in Bremen ) is a German swimmer . She was German champion several times. She trained at the Olympic base in Potsdam and started for the Potsdamer SV . Her trainer was the former swimming world champion and world record holder Jörg Hoffmann .

Life

The long-distance specialist was initially a member of SG Hanse Bremen, and later of the Bremen Sport Club. Since January 2005 she has been training in the Potsdam airship port. After she did not get any further with the individual layers, she switched to the long freestyle courses in 2006. Since 2006 she has been promoted in the association squad of the German swimming federation , through her German championship title (2007 + 2008) she was promoted to the B squad. Since July 1, 2007, she has been a member of the Bundeswehr Sports Promotion Group . There she completed her basic training from October to November 2008 and has continued to train at the Olympic base in Potsdam since then.

Jaana Ehmcke was honored in the context of the youth honor of the Bremer Sportjugend 2006 for outstanding achievements at supraregional, national and international level.

She trains ten to eleven units a week and swims around 90 kilometers. Her first highest athletic goal was to participate in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing . With the German championship title in 2008 over 800 m freestyle, and the clear achievement of the nomination criteria of the DSV, she has achieved this goal for the first time.

In 2007 she graduated from the sports school Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn in Potsdam.

National successes

At the 121st German Swimming Championships , Jaana was again German champion in the 800 m freestyle and 400 m freestyle, but missed the standard times required for the World Cup qualification.

At the 120th German Swimming Championships in Berlin, she achieved the gold medal in the 800 m freestyle with 8: 26.70 minutes. At the same time she creates the Olympic qualification for Beijing (Olympic norm 8: 31.53).

At the 119th German Swimming Championships in Berlin, she achieved the gold medal in the 800 m freestyle with 8: 45.54 minutes . Over the 400 m freestyle course, she achieved the silver medal with a personal best of 4: 16.10 minutes behind Janina-Kristin Götz ( SC DHfK Leipzig ) . She won another silver medal behind Britta Kamrau-Corestein ( SC Empor Rostock ) in the 1500 m freestyle with 16: 50.37 minutes.

At the German Winter Championships in 2006 in Hanover , she achieved two gold medals over 800 m freestyle with 8: 57.99 minutes and over 1500 m freestyle with 16: 57.99 minutes.

At the 118th German Swimming Championships in Berlin, she won a silver medal in the 800 m freestyle in 8: 48.14 minutes behind Nicole Hetzer ( Wacker Burghausen ) and a bronze medal in the 400 m freestyle in 4: 16.96 minutes.

Furthermore, she achieved several vintage titles in the 400 m, 800 m and 1500 m freestyle at German championships.

International success

At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 she reached the 800 m freestyle and 400 m freestyle only 25th place.

At the European Short Course Championships in Helsinki in 2006 , she reached the 800 m freestyle on the 25 m track with 8: 32.85 minutes, 11th place and improved her best time by 11 seconds.
