Janina-Kristin Götz

Janina-Kristin Götz (born January 10, 1981 in Bayreuth ) is a German swimmer . She became European champion in 1997 with the German 4 × 200 m freestyle relay and in 2006 German champion over 400 m freestyle. Her trainer was Jirka Letzin .

Career

She has been involved in competitive sports since 1991, initially the Mistelbacher swam at SV Bayreuth under coach Olaf Bünde. After a sporting low, she moved to Leipzig to SSV Leipzig-Leutzsch in March 1999 , where she was trained by Eva Herbst . After 2003 she trained at SC DHfK Leipzig with Jirka Letzin. After a break of several years, she was promoted again in 2006 in the B-team of the German Swimming Association . Her favorite disciplines are the medium freestyle courses (200 m, 400 m, 800 m).

Sporting successes

International success

At the European Swimming Championships in 1997 (August 19–24 , 1997) in Seville , she achieved the gold medal in the German 4 × 200 m freestyle relay (together with Dagmar Hase , Antje Buschschulte and Kerstin Kielgass ) in 8: 03.59 minutes.

At the 1998 World Swimming Championships (January 8-17 , 1998) in Perth , she was a member of the German 4 × 200 m freestyle relay (together with Silvia Szalai , Antje Buschschulte and Franziska van Almsick ), which was second best with 8: 08.38 min Time reached. However, she missed the leap into the final relay, which was made up of Franziska van Almsick, Dagmar Hase, Silvia Szalai and Kerstin Kielgass in 8: 01.46 minutes, by about a second.

At the 2004 Summer Olympics (August 13-29 , 2004) in Athens , she achieved the fourth-best lead time in the German 4 × 200 m freestyle relay (together with Petra Dallmann , Hannah Stockbauer and Sara Harstick ) in 8: 03.22 minutes. In the final, the German team with Franziska van Almsick, Petra Dallmann, Antje Buschschulte and Hannah Stockbauer won the bronze medal behind the teams from the USA and China.

At the European Short Course Championships in 2005 in Trieste , she achieved ninth place in the 400 m freestyle in 4: 08.06 min. In the following year she came in 13th place over 200 m freestyle in 1: 58.99 min at the European Short Course Championships in Helsinki , with which she just missed her own best time, and in 20th place over 400 m freestyle in 4: 12.15 min .

In the years 1995-1997 she was four times European youth champion over 200 m, 400 m freestyle and with the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay. During these three years she won a total of 10 medals at European Youth Championships, in particular:

  • Junior European Championship 1995: 1st place over 400 m freestyle, 3rd place over 200 m and 800 m freestyle
  • Junior European Championship 1996: 1st place in the 200 m and 400 m freestyle, 2nd place in the 100 m freestyle
  • Junior European Championship 1997: 1st place over 4 × 200 m freestyle, 2nd place over 200 m freestyle, 3rd place over 400 m and 800 m freestyle

Furthermore, she was European youth champion in modern pentathlon .

She was named Bayreuth Sportsman of the Year 1995 . When she was voted Junior Sportswoman of the Year 1996 by the Deutsche Sporthilfe Foundation , she came in 5th.

Private

Janina-Kristin Götz studied sport at the University of Leipzig from 2004 to 2009 . Since 2013 she has been working as a teacher at the Ruhr University Bochum .

She is not related to the swimmer Daniela Götz .
