Jaboatão dos Guararapes , officially Município de Jaboatão dos Guararapes , is a city in the Brazilian state of Pernambuco . The population was estimated on July 1, 2018 at 697,636 inhabitants, who live on 258.7 km². It is the second most populous city in the state after Recife .
history
The city was founded on May 4, 1593 by Bento Luiz Figueira . On November 13, 1873 the place became an independent município .
