Jack Gerber

Jack Gerber (born March 4, 1945 in Cape Town ) is a former South African racing driver and entrepreneur.

Jack Gerber is a shareholder and member of the executive board of Macsteel South Africa , one of the largest South African steel dealers.

Career in motorsport

Jack Gerber is the oldest debutant in the long history of the Le Mans 24-hour race , which was held for the first time in 1923 . When Gerber entered the race in 2013 in the Ferrari 458 Italia GT2 registered by AF Corse , as a partner of Marco Cioci and Matt Griffin , he was 68 years and 110 days old.

Gerber, who made his first racing experiences in Ferrari racing series in his Heintland, came to Europe in 2010 to compete for AF Corse in the International GT Open . In 2013 he moved with the team to the GT amateur class of the FIA World Endurance Championship . The race at Le Mans finished 27th in the overall standings. A result that, as third in the GT-Am class, earned him a place on the podium of the top three in this class.

Gerber continued to compete in international GT races until 2015, including the Daytona 24-hour race and the Sebring 12-hour race in 2014 .
