Jack Ingram (born November 15, 1970 in Houston , Texas ) is an American country singer.

Beginnings

Jack Ingram with fans at the Marcus Amphitheater in Milwaukee on September 1, 2006

Although he was interested in music from an early age, he did not begin to play guitar until he was studying psychology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas . He made his first public appearances at Adair's Club, where he played for free food and drinks. He quickly gained a loyal following with his down-to-earth and straightforward music.

In 1992 he produced his first album on his own. He filled the 1000 sleeves with CDs and supplements himself. A little later followed Lonesome Questions and finally Live at Adair’s . In total, he sold 40,000 copies.

Career

Nashville became aware of the Texan talent and signed him in the mid-1990s. 1997 Livin 'or Dyin' was recorded with Steve Earle as co-producer. Some of the songs were written by Ingram himself. During the production of his next album, his record company merged with another label and Ingram lost his contract. He moved to the Sony BMG Music Entertainment label Lucky Dog , where in 1999 Hey You was produced. Since he had now made a name for himself in the scene, he could fall back on the best musicians. Among other things, Lee Ann Womack was involved.
