Jack Larson
Jack Larson (born February 8, 1928 in Los Angeles , † September 20, 2015 in Brentwood , Los Angeles) was an American actor , film producer and author .
Life
His parents were Anita Calicoff Larson and George Larson. Larson attended Montebello High School in California. As a schoolboy he got a studio contract with Warner Brothers , later he was part of the US Marines as a sailor. He has worked as a theater and film actor in various film, television and theater roles in the United States. A wide audience, he was in the television series The Adventures of Superman (dt. Superman - knight in shining armor ) from the 1950s known in the Larson the part of Jimmy Olsen took over. In the 2006 Superman film Superman Returns he had a cameo appearance as the bartender Bo.
In later years he mainly worked as a playwright and was able to build a successful second career. The composer Virgil Thomson commissioned Larson to write the libretto for his opera Lord Byron , which debuted at the Juilliard Theater in New York in 1972.
His life partner until his death was the American film director and screenwriter James Bridges (1936-1993), whom he met in 1957 while filming Johnny Trouble . They worked together on several film projects. Previously, Larson had been the partner of Montgomery Clift at times . Larson died in September 2015 at the age of 87 in his Los Angeles home, which was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1939 .
