Jack Otterson

John Edward "Jack" Otterson (born August 25, 1905 in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania , † December 22, 1991 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American art director .

Life

Otterson graduated from the Yale School of Arts the Bachelor of Fine Arts . In 1932 he took a job at 20th Century Fox and in 1936 moved to Universal Pictures . There he was nominated for an Oscar for seven consecutive years between 1937 and 1943 , with two nominations in 1943. However, he never received the award. In 1947 he worked on a feature film for the last time , after which he retired from the film business.
