Jacob Barnabas Chacko Aerath

Jacob Barnabas Chacko Aerath OIC (born December 7, 1960 in Karikulam ) is a Syro-Malankar clergyman and bishop of Gurgaon .

Life

Jacob Barnabas Chacko Aerath joined the religious community of the Order of the Discipline of Christ in 1975, made the first profession in 1979 and the perpetual profession on May 15, 1985. He was ordained a priest on October 2, 1986 .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on February 7, 2007 as Apostolic Visitor of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church outside the home country and titular bishop of Bapara . The Grand Archbishop of Trivandrum , Isaac Cleemis Thottunkal , donated him episcopal ordination on March 10 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Yoohanon Chrysostom Kalloor , Bishop of Marthandom , and Geevarghese Divannasios Ottathengil , Bishop of Battery .

On March 26, 2015, Pope Francis appointed him the first bishop of the Gurgaon eparchy, which was established on the same date .
