Jacob Samuel Brown (born April 10, 1998 in Halifax , West Yorkshire ) is an English football player who is under contract with the second division club Barnsley .

Career

Jacob Brown, born in Halifax , West Yorkshire , comes from the youth department of Barnsley FC , where he made his first impressions in the first team in the 2016/17 season . On October 22, 2016 (14th matchday) he made his debut in a 2-0 away win against Brentford FC in the second-highest English division when he came on for Sam Winnall in the closing stages . During this season he came to two short assignments.

After he was not included in a single league game in the following season 2017/18 to January 2018, he moved to Chesterfield FC on January 31, 2018 on loan until the end of the season . On February 17 (34th matchday) he made his debut for his loan club in the 2-0 away defeat against Carlisle United when he was exchanged for Chris O'Grady in the 80th minute of the game . He quickly established himself as a regular player, but could not collect any goal participation in 13 league appearances for the Spireites .

After his return to Barnsley FC, which had since been relegated to the third highest English division , he developed into a regular in the 2018/19 season . On September 29, 2018 (matchday 10), he scored his first league goal in a 3-1 away win against Fleetwood Town . On December 12, 2018, he extended his contract until the summer of 2021. With eight goals and six assists in 32 league games, he made a significant contribution to the promotion to the EFL Championship. At the end of May 2019, he was therefore rewarded with a new working paper and tied himself to the Tykes until summer 2022 .

In the next 2019/20 season , he stood out primarily as a template provider , but slipped into the relegation battle with his club early on.
