The Mühlhausen fire department consists of a professional fire department with one location and the volunteer fire department with eight locations throughout the city. Organizationally, the fire brigade is subordinate to department 5 and its specialist service 5.3 - fire protection of the city of Mühlhausen . Their tasks include preventive and defensive fire protection, technical assistance and disaster control.
history
In the 16th and especially at the end of the 17th century , large parts of the city of Mühlhausen fell victim to the flames, which led to fire regulations in 1767 , which were revised again in 1833 and 1856. As a result, the stone was set in 1835 with the establishment of a rescue association to save human life, livestock and movable property , and in the middle of the 18th century every citizen was obliged to perform fire-fighting services. The first mention of a Mühlhausen fire brigade is dated September 15, 1862 and was published in the Kreisblatt (KrBl). In it the formation of a gymnast fire brigade (FTFW) is announced, which emerged from the gymnast community in Mühlhausen and had 95 members at the beginning.
In 1871 the fire regulations were changed into a fire brigade statute and the Turner fire brigade was renamed " Freiwillige Feuerwehr Mühlhausen". The fire brigade celebrated its 50th anniversary in 1912, which at that time had a manpower of 105. The first motorized sprayer for the armed forces was obtained through donations in 1923 and the first Dixi team equipment vehicle was put into service 3 years later . An automobile turntable ladder "DL 26" followed in 1929. The first professional fire brigade was founded in 1948 but was repealed on September 17, 1966 and taken over by the volunteer fire brigade under the leadership of the People's Police .
On September 18, 1990, the fire brigade association Mühlhausen eV was founded and in the same year four full-time employees were employed for the fire department in the city. In the following years a new fire station was set up, several emergency vehicles and new protective equipment were acquired. In 2002 the Wehr celebrated its 140th anniversary with a grand ceremony. In 2018, the full-time staff was converted to a professional fire brigade with 29 men.
Professional fire brigade
The professional fire brigade Mühlhausen is one of the younger professional fire brigades in Thuringia and has 28 civil servants in the middle and one in the upper fire service . It is located at Bastmarkt and shares the fire station with the Mühlhausen volunteer fire department. 9 officers are assigned to each watch shift, plus the head of the professional fire brigade and the officer for preventive fire protection who are on duty in a 24-hour shift from 7 a.m. to 7 a.m. During active working hours, the officers do other work in the respiratory protection , hose and fire extinguisher workshop and maintain the emergency vehicles and technology.
