The Eisenach fire brigade is organized in the Office for Fire and Disaster Protection of the City of Eisenach and consists of the professional fire brigade with a guard in the city area and nine volunteer fire brigades from different parts of the city. With their active members, they ensure fire protection , disaster control and general help in the independent city of Eisenach and its districts.

history

On August 8, 1860, the Eisenach gymnastics club was formed with around 40 members. The Eisenach city administration approved the founding of this association in October 1860 and commissioned Turner to set up a rescue company to support the Eisenach fire police. Under the leadership of Gustav Adami, the solemn commitment of the volunteer unit by the city council took place on April 30, 1862. On September 15, 1862, the Eisenach gymnastics club received a fire engine from the Aachen Munich fire insurance company . In 1869 the basic law of the voluntary fire brigade in Eisenach was enacted, it also regulated the care of accident fire brigade comrades and their survivors. In 1881, the Grand Ducal Government of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach initiated a standardization to regulate the fire-fighting system. Male citizens between the ages of 18 and 50 could now be required to do fire service. A list from the city of Eisenach names 7 fire brigade districts and 450 names, of which 68 people began basic fire brigade training. A fire alarm was triggered by cannon shots from the Wartburg, later by people with a storm bell and by the seven firefighters deployed; from 1890 there were 25 fire alarm points in the city area that already had a telephone connection to the fire station. With the expansion of the city's drinking water pipeline network, hydrants for extinguishing water supply were installed in every street.

In 1890 a central syringe house was set up on today's Theaterplatz, it existed until 1903 and was then relocated to Helenstrasse. In the depot there was a large hand pressure syringe , two normal hand pressure syringes and two smaller hand pressure syringes. By 1899, a mechanical turntable ladder and two further hand pressure sprayers had been purchased; all fire fighting equipment needed horses for transport. The first motorized syringe could be purchased in 1922. The Eisenach vehicle factory and the worsted yarn spinning mill founded their own plant fire brigades around 1900 , and engine sprayers were already being used in these large companies. If necessary, the plant fire brigades were called in to support the Eisenach professional fire brigade and to assist in overland fire fighting. The first motorized turntable ladder for the Eisenach volunteer fire brigade was purchased in 1926.

During the Second World War there was an additional extinguishing water tank in the western part of the market square. The National Socialists also urged girls and women to do fire service; for example, they were deployed in the devastating air raids on Eisenach's old town in September 1944 and at the end of the war in April 1945. On July 1, 1956, the first fire protection law of the GDR came into force, regulating the responsibilities and material conditions for the work of fire fighters. The professional fire brigade was subordinated to the People's Police District Office. Since January 1957, the Eisenach volunteer fire brigade had been subordinate to the city council. An important task of the Eisenach volunteer fire brigade was to secure events. 330 theater guards were billed annually . In 1968, an ATZE fire brigade was founded in Eisenach to attract young talent at the Pionierhaus . The ATZE fire brigade, which was also set up in other cities in the GDR, was used for 40 to 60 events every year, including during the school holidays, and was a great success, with around 45,000 children being courted as offspring.

Professional fire brigade

The Eisenach professional fire brigade provides the city with basic security in fire protection and disaster control. The fire station of the professional fire brigade is located in the northern part of Eisenach together with the volunteer fire brigade Eisenach-Mitte and the rescue control center for the Wartburg district and the city of Eisenach. It consists of five civil servants in the upper fire service and 28 civil servants and employees in the middle service .

The Eisenach professional fire service carries out around 1,200 fire service missions every year. For this purpose, you have a fleet of vehicles consisting of an emergency control vehicle 1 (ELW 1), a tank fire engine 24/50 (TLF 24/50), an emergency group vehicle (HLF 20), a turntable ladder with basket (DLK 23/12), an equipment vehicle for dangerous goods 2 (GW -G2), a measuring technology equipment trolley (GW-Mess), a hose trolley (SW 3000) and a multi-purpose vehicle (MZF) are available.

The specialty of the professional fire brigade Eisenach is that all employees of the management service move out with a critical mission in order to take on the task of the urgently needed operational functions in the context of fire fighting and technical assistance . In this way, fire protection can continue to be guaranteed at a high level, especially on weekdays, even if there are no volunteer fire fighters.

Voluntary fire brigades

The voluntary fire brigade of the city of Eisenach is divided into nine locations. The districts of Stregda , Stedtfeld , Neukirchen , Neuenhof , Göringen , Hörschel and Madelungen have their own, and Stockhausen and Hötzelsroda have their own volunteer fire department. In addition, the Eisenach professional fire brigade is reinforced by the Eisenach-Mitte volunteer fire brigade, which is located in the same building as the professional fire brigade.

The volunteer fire brigades have a fleet of vehicles prescribed by the Thuringian Fire Brigade Organization Ordinance ( ThürFwOrgVO ), consisting of a team transport vehicle (MTF), four fire fighting vehicles 8/6 (LF 8/6), one fire fighting vehicle 16-TS (LF 16-TS), and a fire truck 16/24 Tr (TLF 16/24 Tr), four small fire engines Thuringia (KLF-TH), a portable pump vehicle (TSF) and an emergency vehicle 1 (RW 1) are available.
