Jacob Gijsbert Woertman

Jacob Gijsbert Woertman (born December 3, 1722 in Utrecht , † February 27, 1785 ibid) was a Dutch medic.

Life

The son of Jacob Woertman and Magdalena van Diemersbroeck had enrolled under the rectorate of Gisbert Matthias Elsner in 1745 at the University of Utrecht and received his doctorate there on December 16, 1745 under Johannes Oosterdijk Schacht with the treatise de bile, utilissimo chulopoiēseōs instrumento as a doctor of medicine . He then proved himself as a doctor and surgeon in medical practice in Utrecht. The curators of the Utrecht University appointed him on February 26, 1748 professor of anatomy and surgery. He took up the position on April 29, 1748 with the speech De pulmonum mechanismo .

After he had also participated in the organizational tasks of the university as rector of the alma mater in 1751/52 and resigned from this office on March 20, 1752 with the speech De proxima sede, quam anima in corpore humano occupat , he also took over on March 16 , 1752 . August 1756 the teaching assignment of medicine. This professorship ended on January 24th, 1760, when he became the owner of Klein Zegel. On August 16, 1765 he resigned from the professorship in anatomy and surgery.

The son Johan Jacob Woertman is known from his marriage to Beatrix Verweij (1718–1753) in 1751.
