Jacob Ickelsheimer (* ??; † 1880 /1881 in Bad Kissingen ) was a royal Bavarian court gardener .

Life

As a royal Bavarian court gardener, Ickelsheimer served as head of the spa gardening facility in the Bavarian state baths in Bad Kissingen.

In 1865 he lived at Kurhausstrasse 79 1/2.

On behalf of the Bavarian King Maximilian II , Ickelsheimer began to plant groups of trees on the other side of the Franconian Saale with groups of trees behind the spa garden with its cast-iron fountain hall and the Kursaal ( "Conversation Hall" , today "Rossini Hall" ; see arcade construction ) began (today " Luitpoldpark " , named after the Prince Regent Luitpold , Maximilian's brother). He also had Ickelsheimer reforest the previously treeless Altenberg and create promenade paths, which, according to Ickelsheimer's plans, gradually developed into a delightful high-altitude park area years after his death. As a result, the spa facilities were expanded far beyond the previous central spa garden.

" In recognition of his many services to Kissingen and its beautification ", he was made honorary citizen of the city of Bad Kissingen in 1875 . In 1882 a memorial stone was placed on the Altenberg for him after his death.
