Jacob Reichard
Jacob Reichard (born February 20, 1841 in Darmstadt , † November 4, 1913 in Berlin ) was a German photographer and entrepreneur.
Life
Jacob Reichard had a photo studio in Anklam , Peendamm 39, from around 1868 and experimented a. a. with architectural photography . He was married to Hermine Amalie Eugenie von Below from Stolp . At the beginning of 1872 he moved to Berlin and founded another photographic studio at Markgrafen Strasse 40 together with the businessman Karl Emil August Lindner (born May 23, 1837 in Berlin). In 1883 the company already had working capital of 30,000 marks, an annual turnover of 90,000 marks and employed ten workers. By 1892 Reichard had become a court photographer and the shop was now in Berlin, Unter den Linden 54/55. In 1902 Jacob Reichard sold his studio for 25,000 marks.
Reichard was a member of the Berlin Photography Society and received numerous awards, such as the Knight's Cross of the Franz Joseph Order , the Knight's Cross of the King of Saxony, the Cross of Merit for Art and Science, and the Hessian Order of Merit of Philip the Magnanimous . The connection to the German imperial family must have been very trusting. So z. B. the only photo of Emperor Friedrich III. on Jacob Reichard's deathbed.
