Jacob Seib

Jacob Seib (* 1812 Offenbach am Main ; † 1883 Frankfurt am Main ) was a German photographer of the 19th century.

Life

Jacob Seib, born in Offenbach in 1812, was one of the first photographers in Frankfurt and was particularly popular with the public. His clients included Heinrich Wilhelm August Freiherr von Gagern , Ernst Moritz Arndt and Arthur Schopenhauer .

His photographic institute was located at Hochstrasse 16, where he mainly invited public figures. The portraits that were commissioned by members of the Frankfurt National Assembly are particularly well known. Attention was drawn to an advertisement by Seib on June 6, 1852 in the Frankfurter Intellektiven -Blatt , where he advertised the new technology of photography on glass .

Works by Seib can be found in the Agfa works archive , in the Historisches Museum in Frankfurt and in the Nordico in Linz.
