The building with the postal address Jacobiturmstraße 32 is a listed building on Jacobiturmstraße in Stralsund , on the corner of Badenstraße .

The three-storey , twelve-axis , eaves building is of medieval origin. The facade of the elongated building reveals three construction phases.

The house was built by the merchant and councilor Peter Bavemann in 1159 for around 800 guilders on the property he had acquired in 1552 on what was then Pantinenmacherstraße. He used the northern part as a house with a ballroom and fireplace, the middle part as a carriage house. After Peter Bavemann's death in 1580, the house belonged to his son-in-law Cord Besteböstel.

During a renovation of the initially only two-storey building in 1568, a portal was added in the third axis from the outside . The northern portal has been completely preserved. It is artistically framed with fluted , Ionic columns on high pedestals . It is crowned by a flat triangular gable with a framed double coat of arms and male allegories lying on the slopes . Three from the workshop of Statius Duren coming terracotta plates belong to the rich decoration of the portal. The middle relief panel shows the adoration of the Magi, the outer panels show images.

The middle, four-axis part of the building collapsed in the 17th century and was rebuilt; he received a structure from colossal pilasters . In 1725 the merchant Johann Victor Ehlers bought the house, he also owned the house at Badenstrasse 13 , which shares the yard with the house on Jacobiturmstrasse. In 1880 the city of Stralsund acquired the buildings Jacobiturmstrasse 32 and Badenstrasse 13, the former was rented to Nordbahn . From 1894 the house was rebuilt and rental apartments and offices were built. During a restoration in 1976, the plaster was removed.

The house was renovated in 2014, with the three parts of the building being contrasted in color.

The house is located in the core area of the city area recognized by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage site of the “ historic old towns of Stralsund and Wismar ”. It is entered in the list of architectural monuments in Stralsund with the number 356.
