The Jacobiturmstraße in the urban area Old Town in Stralsund connects the Badenstraße at the mouth of the cup maker street with Frankenstraße . The Heilgeiststraße , Papestraße and Long road cross the Jacobiturmstraße. The Böttcherstraße goes off the Jacobiturmstraße. Jacobiturmstrasse is part of the core area of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Historic Old Towns Stralsund and Wismar .

The street was first mentioned under this name in 1624. It owes its name to the Jakobikirche , the tower of which it passes.

The section between Badenstrasse and Heilgeiststrasse was initially called, verifiably from 1322, Travemünder Strasse after the von Travemünde dynasty , which is verifiable in Stralsund between 1277 and 1362 and provided three council members, including two mayors , during this time ; This name lasted until the 16th century, partly parallel to the new name Battinmacherstraße, first mentioned in 1457, after the local manufacturers of wooden shoes (pantines). The name Dregerstrasse , which came from the local porters of goods, was also common in the 16th century.

The section between Heilgeiststraße and Böttcherstrasse was first called gruttemakerstrate by the local porridge makers that the for brewing manufactured grits needed. Since the end of the 15th century the section was called Siebmacherstraße ; the sieve makers made sieves for the groats makers.

The section between Langenstrasse and Frankenstrasse was initially called Breite Querstrasse .

In 1869 the previous sections were merged into Jacobiturmstrasse.

Two of the houses in the street are listed (see also the list of architectural monuments in Stralsund ): the houses Jacobiturmstraße 16/17 and Jacobiturmstraße 32 .
