Jacques Baptiste Lebrun (born August 21, 1910 in Paris , † January 14, 1996 in Neuilly-sur-Seine ) was a French sailor .
successes
Jacques Lebrun took part in the Olympic Games five times . At the 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles , he was Olympic champion in the Snowbird with 87 points . He secured the gold medal ahead of Bob Maas and Santiago Amat . In the O-Jolle he took sixth place in Berlin in 1936 . Together with Henri Perrissol he started in London in 1948 in the boat class Swallow , in which he reached ninth place. Four years later he finished eleventh in the Finn dinghy in Helsinki . For financial reasons Lebrun could not take part in the Games in Melbourne in 1956 , but entered Rome again in 1960 . In the 5.5 meter class he was the skipper of the French boat Snowten III , but did not get past 18th and penultimate place. In 1956 Lebrun became world champion in La Baule in the 505 .
After his active career, he worked as a boat designer and was also technical director at the French sailing association. During the Second World War he helped save numerous works of art from the Louvre from German occupation. His family ran a picture frame business.
