Jacques Louis Nyst

Jacques Louis Nyst (* 1942 in Liège ; † 1995 ) was a Belgian video artist .

life and work

Jacques Louis Nyst was born in Liège in 1942. He studied at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Liège , where he later taught as a professor of drawing and video art.

In the roles of "Professor Codca" and "Thérèsa Plane" ("J'ai la tête qui tourne / My Head is Spinning" (1984), "Hyaloïde" (1985) and "l'Image / The Image" from 1987) Jacques Louis Nyst led philosophical, often witty, intellectual discourses with his wife, the video artist Danièle Nyst (1942–1998) . The couple lived and worked in Sprimont in the province of Liège .
