The Lednice Hunting Lodge ( Lovecký zámeček ) in the park of the Lednice Castle (German: Eisgrub ) is a staffage building in the Lednice-Valtice UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Czech Republic .

Geographical location

The hunting lodge stands on the way from Lednice to Ladná not far from the Hansenburg Castle and the old course of the Thaya . In the vicinity there is a Hegerhaus, as it was built several times around 1900 by the architect Carl Weinbrenner in the grounds of the Princes of Liechtenstein .

Building

The architect of the hunting lodge built in 1805/06 was Joseph Hardtmuth . It is two story. The district hunter's apartment was on the ground floor. The upper floor was used for the amusement of the rulers. The central room here is an octagonal salon . From here, visitors can step out onto a loggia from which the ladies could watch the animal hunt that took place on the meadow in front of the building. The loggia rests on the ground floor on an arcade made up of three arches. On top of it stand Tuscan columns with a pointed gable, forming a three-axis portico and thus imitating an ancient temple .
