Jaguar is an English new wave of British heavy metal band from Bristol that was formed in 1979, disbanded in 1985 and reunited in 1998.

history

The band was formed in 1979 by singer Rob Reiss, guitarist Garry Pepperd, bassist Jeff Cox and drummer Chris Lovell. After releasing some demos, the band reached a contract with Heavy Metal Records . The band was on the label's compilation, which was called Heavy Metal Heroes , with the song Stormchild in September 1981. Her first single, Back Street Woman , followed in November . that November. In early 1982, Paul Merrell, a new singer, joined the band and a new contract with Neat Records was reached. The next single called Ax Crazy followed and with Power Games in May 1983 their debut album.

The band then signed a contract with Roadrunner Records and released the album This Time in 1984. The following year the band broke up. In 1998 the band reunited. Pepperd and Cox were still present as founding members, singer Jamie Manton and bassist Nathan Cox played as new members in the band. The band made their first live appearance at the Wacken Open Air 1999, which was followed by other appearances in Europe . The group reached a new contract with Neat Records, about which they released the new album Wake Me in 2000 . In 2003 the next album Run Ragged followed with the new bassist Darren Furze . From 2006 to 2010 a live album and two compilations were released through various record companies. Among them was High Roller Records , which have brought comparable releases to the market by similar bands such as Axis or Metal Mirror .

style

The band is a classic representative of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, with influences from Saxon and Iron Maiden being clearly audible.
