With the song "Disparada" (by Geraldo Vandré and Théo de Barros) he won the 1966 Festival da Música Popular Brasileira . In the same year he recorded his hit "Tristeza" (Niltinho / Haroldo Lobo). In 1967 he went on an international tour with Regina and the Zimbo Trio . In the following years he had other Hts with "Triste Madrugada" ( Jorge Costa ), "Casa de Bamba" (Martinho da Vila), "Tengo-Tengo" (Zuzuca) and "Vai, meu samba."
