Jakob Gruber (politician)

Jakob Gruber (born January 19, 1676 in Gais ; † June 29, 1750 in the same place ; entitled to live in Gais) was a Swiss farmer , member of the Small Council , delegate of the Diet and Landammann from the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden .

Life

Jakob Gruber was a son of Conrad Gruber, mayor , and Anna Sulser. In 1701 he married Anna Koller, daughter of Johannes Koller. The farmer Jakob Gruber was councilor from 1719. From 1732 to 1733 he served as governor. From 1733 to 1735 he was provincial governor and from 1735 to 1743 he was delegate to the Diet . From 1735 to 1745 he held the office of Ausserrhoder Landammann . Although he was a partisan of the so-called hard, he vigorously advocated a settlement of the land trade . In 1733 he personally protected the "linden" pastor of Gais. As a member of the commission set up in 1733 to revise the land register , he was the initiator of new land statutes.
