Jakob Laub (born June 15, 1924 in Bulgăruș ( German  Bogarosch ), Kingdom of Romania ; † April 25, 2020 ) was a German school principal and from 1996 to 2002 federal chairman of the Banat Swabian country team from 1986 to 2002.

Life

Jakob Laub attended schools in Timișoara ( Banatia ) and Sighișoara ; In 1943 he passed his Abitur in Brașov . During the Second World War he served in the German army, was wounded and was taken prisoner of war, from which he was released to the Soviet occupation zone .

Laub studied pedagogy in Magdeburg and found employment as a teacher. He settled in Alvensleben with his wife Irmtraut . In 1957 they both fled to West Germany with their son . Here they settled in Waibstadt , where he worked at the local elementary and secondary school for almost 30 years, first as a teacher and later as rector.

Jakob Laub was state chairman of the Landsmannschaft of the Banat Swabians in Baden-Württemberg from 1979 to 2008 and its federal chairman from 1986 to 2002. His successor was Bernhard Krastl . Laub was also a member of the presidium of the Federation of Expellees for twelve years .
