Franz Kroppenstedt

Franz Kroppenstedt (born May 1, 1931 in Marburg ) is a German lawyer and former State Secretary .

Life

Kroppenstedt grew up in Biedenkopf , where he attended secondary school. In 1951 he began studying law and political science at the Philipps University in Marburg . He also studied economics . In 1955 he passed the first state examination in law and four years later, in 1959, the second state examination.

In 1959 he entered the civil service and worked from then on at the Federal Administrative Court in Berlin . At the same time, Kroppenstedt was employed by the city of Eschwege in the Werra-Meißner district . From 1962 he worked for the Federal Ministry of the Interior in Bonn . In 1967 he joined the CDU in Bonn .

On January 1, 1980, Franz Kroppenstedt became the new President of the Federal Statistical Office . In this function he was also the federal returning officer . The federal elections in 1980 and 1983 fell during his term of office , before Franz Kroppenstedt was appointed State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of the Interior in May of the same year . He held this office until 1990.

His family comes partly from Silesia , partly from Lower Saxony . His father was a teacher at the secondary school that Franz Kroppenstedt attended. Kroppenstedt is Protestant and has been married since 1959. He has a daughter and two sons.
