Jakob Ludwig Buhl
Jakob Ludwig Buhl (born May 28, 1821 in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse , † July 20, 1880 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German painter , engraver , etcher and lithographer .
Buhl studied at the Royal Prussian Art Academy in Düsseldorf with Johann Wilhelm Schirmer and with the engraver Xaver Steifensand , then from 1840 worked in the steel engraving studio of Carl Ludwig Frommel in Karlsruhe .
From around 1843 he worked in Munich for three years , at times in Carl Rottmann's studio . In 1846 he settled in Frankfurt am Main as a freelance artist.
Most of his lithographs and copperplate engravings were based on the models of other artists.
