Jakob Philipp Graf von Schwerin (* May 8, 1719 , † January 2, 1779 in Stockholm ) was Swedish Imperial Councilor and President of the Wismar Tribunal .

Life

Jakob Philipp came from the Pomeranian noble family von Schwerin and was a son of Klaus Philipp von Schwerin (1689–1748), a Swedish infantry officer and later general, and Maria Johanna Burensköld (1694–1774). In 1739 he went to the royal Swedish court as court squire and was appointed chamberlain in 1743 . From 1747 he was a councilor in the Swedish government in Pomerania . In 1763 he became President of the Wismar Tribunal.

In 1769 he became a member of the Imperial Council with the support of Hattarne . In 1770 he accompanied Duke Karl von Södermanland on a journey that led via Aachen to France and back via Swedish Pomerania . In 1771 he became the chief court marshal of the queen mother Luise Ulrike , whom he accompanied on her trip to Berlin . When King Gustav III. When he seized power in Sweden in 1772, he was first removed from his position as Reichsrat, but shortly afterwards he was given back his council seat, which he held until his death. He was buried next to his wife in the burial place of the Burenskölds in Linköping Cathedral.

Jakob Philipp von Schwerin was made a knight in 1758 and commander of the North Star Order in 1760 . In 1765 he was awarded the Order of Seraphine . On November 8, 1766 he was raised to the Swedish count status.

He was the lord of the Burensköld Fideikommiss in Östergötland and heir to Löbnitz and Kindshagen in Western Pomerania . He was married since 1750 to Charlotte Sophie Margarete von Bohlen (1737–1773), the daughter of the government councilor Karl Heinrich Berndt von Bohlen and Anna Eleonara von Normann . The two had two daughters and six sons, of whom Kurt Philipp Karl (1751-1828) and Adolf Ludwig (1759-1818) achieved the rank of general in the Swedish army .
