Jakob Schwengeler

Jakob Schwengeler (born April 25, 1892 in Urnäsch ; † January 12, 1976 there ; entitled to live in Töss , today the municipality of Winterthur ) was a Swiss farmer and politician .

Life

Jakob Schwengeler was a son of Johannes Schwengeler, farmer and cattle dealer , and Anna Barbara Nef. In 1917 he married Anna Ehrbar, daughter of Johannes Ehrbar, farmer and timber merchant . He trained as a baker - confectioner . In 1915 he took over his father's business. In 1917 he moved to his father-in-law's estate. He sat on the Ausserrhoder Cantonal Council from 1935 to 1957 . From 1942 to 1952 he held the office of the municipality captain held by Urnäsch. He was co-founder, treasurer and vice-president of the Appenzell Association of Milk Collection Centers . He presided over the Urnäsch Agricultural Cooperative . From 1933 to 1964 he was the treasurer and vice-president of the cantonal agricultural association. He was a board member of the Swiss Association of Mountain Farmers . In 1926 he was a co-founder of the Raiffeisenbank Urnäsch. Schwengeler appeared at the cantonal and federal level as a peasant politician. Above all, he campaigned for the improvement of the situation of the mountain population.
