Jakob Stricker

Jakob Stricker (born April 23, 1898 in Stein , † September 13, 1965 in Herisau ; resident in Stein) was a Swiss politician from the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden .

Life

Jakob Stricker was a son of Johann Jakob Stricker, a farmer , and Anna Katharina Ringsisen. In 1924 he married Margaretha Steingruber, daughter of Johann Jakob Steingruber, farmer. Stricker took over his father's farm in Stein, to which a guesthouse was affiliated until 1939 . From 1928 to 1933 he was a community judge, from 1930 president of the community court. He sat on the local council from 1933 to 1948 . From 1938 he officiated as mayor . From 1942 to 1948 he was a member of the Ausserrhoder Cantonal Council . From 1948 to 1962 he held the office of government councilor. Until 1956 he was in charge of the building and agriculture department. From 1956 to 1960 he headed the building and insurance directorate as a member of the government and from 1960 to 1962 the municipal and insurance directorate. From 1936 to 1953, Stricker chaired the Stein Agricultural and Alpine Farming Association and from 1953 to 1965 the supervisory commission of the cantonal farmers' welfare fund. From 1963 to 1965 he managed the branch of the Ausserhoder Kantonalbank in Stein. His wife continued this until 1979.
