Jakob Tischhauser (born March 26, 1942 in Parpan ) is a former Swiss ski racer . He specialized in the disciplines of giant slalom and slalom .

biography

Tischhauser first found international attention at the 1966 World Cup in Portillo , when he narrowly missed a medal and finished fourth. He scored his first points in a World Cup race on January 9, 1967 when he was fifth in the giant slalom in Adelboden . In the World Cup premiere season, however, this remained his only countable result, but he won the Swiss Slalom Championship. Jakob Tischhauser was also qualified for the 1968 Winter Olympics, but was unable to take part for a short time due to an appendix disease. But at the first post-Olympic race in Oslo he again finished fifth.

With four podium places in the giant slalom, the winter of 1968/69 was Tischhauser's most successful season. In Åre and Squaw Valley he was second behind Jean-Noël Augert and Reinhard Tritscher , and third in Mont Sainte-Anne and Waterville Valley . In the discipline ranking, he took fourth place. At the beginning of the 1969/70 season, he again achieved third place in Lienz . Six other top 10 rankings followed. After winning the Swiss giant slalom championship at the end of the season, he retired from top-class sport.

Tischhauser is a businessman by profession and was the owner of a sports shop in St. Moritz . He is married and lives in Hünenberg .
