Johann Wilhelm Bornemann

Johann Wilhelm Jakob Bornemann (born February 2, 1766 or 1767 in Gardelegen , † May 23, 1851 in Berlin ) was director of the Royal Prussian State Lottery .

Bornemann was also a turner, singer in the Sing-Akademie zu Berlin and a poet , especially of Low German poetry (in Altmark dialect ). Jakob Wilhelm Bornemann is known as the author of the song Im Wald und auf der Heide (but at that time with the beginning of the song "In green-leafed heath, I look for my joy ..."). In Gardelegen, a street bears the name Bornemann in his honor. His son was the future Prussian Minister of Justice Friedrich Wilhelm Ludwig Bornemann .
