James Andreoni

James Raymond Andreoni (* 1959 in Beloit, Wisconsin ) is an American economist .

Life

After graduating from the University of Minnesota with a BS in Economics in 1981, Andreoni moved to the University of Michigan . There he received an MA degree in 1984 and a Ph.D. in 1986. PhD in economics. He was then assistant professor until 1992 , associate professor until 1996 and finally full professor of economics until 2006 at the University of Wisconsin – Madison . Andreoni has been Professor at the University of California, San Diego since 2006, where he is also director of the Economics Laboratory.

Andreoni, who specializes in experimental economic research in the context of behavioral economics , game theory and economic theory, was President of the Economic Science Association from 2007 to 2009 and has been Vice President of the Association for the Study of Generosity in Economics since 2013 . Since 2011 he has been an elected fellow of both the Econometric Society and the Society for the Advancement of Economic Theory . In 1992 he received a research grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation ( Sloan Research Fellowship ).

Andreoni has held various visiting professorships abroad.
