James Dugdale, 2nd Baron Crathorne

(Charles) James Dugdale, 2nd Baron Crathorne KCVO , KStJ , FRSA (born September 12, 1939 ) is a British nobleman , art dealer and businessman.

Career

Dugdale attended Eton College and then studied at Trinity College at the University of Cambridge . He first worked at Sotheby’s in the Impressionist Painting Department, and later in the New York branch .

Dugdale has been an independent art consultant since 1969. In the field of the fine arts as well as the maritime training of young people (sea cadets) and the universities in Yorkshire he has held a large number of honorary positions, some of them in a managerial position. Since 1972 he has been a member of the Royal Society of Arts , since 1999 Knight of the Order of St. John . In the same year he also became Lord Lieutenant of North Yorkshire .

At the death of his father in 1977 Dugdale inherited his title of Baron Crathorne and the associated seat in the House of Lords and a baronet . Even after the reform of the House of Lords in 1999, he still has a seat there as one of the 90 members elected by the hereditary nobles.

Dugdale had been married to Sylvia Mary Montgomery, who died in 2009, since 1970. The couple have two daughters and one son.
